Finger pointing is easy. Slogans are easy. Sarah Palin is easy.
By which I mean to say that her kind of ignorant rah-rah is simple to manufacture and easy to spout.
What's hard - really hard - is to accept that the United States is losing it. We're going down.
This economy won't recover the way things are going. Ever.
We're broke. We produce almost nothing. And we're locked into political ideologies where even old ideas don't get a proper consideration before they are slammed by opposing idealogues.
New ideas aren't even being dreamed up anymore, as each side spends all of its time trying to destabilize the other. And the wobbling center grasps at straws, trying to hold on to a common sense that no longer makes sense, that doesn't reflect the simple, hard fact:
The United States is losing it. We're going down.
So, on an occasional basis here, I'll use this forum to propose some ideas which are not from the left, not from the right, and not from the center. They're other. Because it will take other thinking to get us out of this mess.
